A handful of plant cuttings I collected on a walk around San Francisco last week started to show a bit of mold (Botrytis cinerea?). I removed the affected plants from the starter tray to try to limit the spread among the healthy cuttings.
I put them under this great little usb microscope and took some photos (click to embiggen).
In hopes of saving the otherwise healthy cuttings I treated the starting tray with a 0.3% solution of hydrogen peroxide.
I’m worried that the hydrogen peroxide solution is going to end up killing the cuttings. Better cleaning before planting is probably the better route in the future. The high humidity, lack of airflow and limited UV light likely were also contributing factors.
